4th IMAGO CINEMATOGRAPHERS SYMPOSIUM “INSPIRATION”. 1st time in Amsterdam. From May 18th – 21st for film professionals. Hosted by the NSC.
A symposium with great cinematographers as guest speakers: artists, who have shown such a degree of creativity and personal expression that we simply have to meet them, have a talk, and a chance to be mutually inspired.

The sessions are structured like a dialogue between the guest speaker and the audience – with discussion, exchange of views and experience, and screening of clips from the guest’s films, giving them the opportunity to explain their artistic choices. Additionally there is a
SPECIAL SCREENING “Professione: Reporter“ (dir. M. Antonioni) with attendance of D.o.P. Luciano Tovoli, AIC, ASC and afterwards a session with him moderated by Peter Verstraten, chair of Film and Literary Studies at Leiden University. He wrote among others Film Narratology (2009) and Humour and Irony in Dutch Post-war Cinema (2016). He co-edited Shooting Time: Cinematographers on Cinematography (2012), with Richard van Oosterhout, NSC and Maarten van Rossem, NSC. – open to public
LECTURE by Elen Lotman, ESC “The Cinematographer as professional see-er”
PANEL DICUSSION with special guests from other than film disciplines – based on the assumption that the cinematographic expression is the pivotal starting point.
