About

De uitwisseling en verbinding tussen makers is essentieel voor een gezonde filmwereld. Ik draag graag bij aan een plek waar de belangrijke vragen worden gesteld en beantwoord rondom het vak.

Laura Hermanides (1988, Amsterdam) is a writer/director who graduated from the Dutch Film Academy in 2012. She works mainly on her own independent films; documentary, fiction or video art. Laura is also known to do her own editing and for composing music, both for her own films and with her band Pompette.

Her experience ranges from documentaries like Prove me wrong (2015) to the experimental dance film Anahit (2022) to the feature fiction film White Flash (2024) which was selected as opening film of the Netherlands Film Festival. International prizes and nominations of Laura’s films are numerous. A good example is the short film Nymphet (2016) which won the Sundance Channel Award.

In her own words, Hermanides sets out to ’show life’s complexity by stripping down the narrative’. And by doing so, she transcends genres and disciplines, examines myth and fact to uncover life’s grand topics. On top of that, Laura’s work ethic combines grace and ease in a way that is unique to the visual arts.
