Biografie

Fleur van Dissel Visual Communication (FVD)

Fleur van Dissel received her Masters in Visual Communication at the 'Hochschule der Kunste' in Berlin. She began her career as an artist and graphic designer for various Dutch theatres and cultural institutions. She emerged as a video-artist and entered the media platform when she made her first documentary ‘Hi, mum’ (1999) for the Dutch VPRO Television.

Van Dissel's company currently works in consultancy, correspondency, creative production and filmmaking on African leadership issues in Holland, Kenya and currently Sudan. Her documentaries made for Kenyan National TV are of Human interest and give an insight view of democracy at work.
She currently turns these Kenyan portraits into Media concepts and African & International films.

“My mobile audio-visual creative production company registered in Holland since 1999 and in Kenya since 2009. In close collaboration and interaction with Kenyan organisations and creative minds, I witness and film human transformation processes of the leadership performance through the eyes of the people involved. By giving direct attention to sensitive and urgent matters, which are difficult to approach, I open up unexplored areas, to support social and political change. In times of conflict transitions such concepts want to reflect on the past and give hope & relief for the future. I see freedom of speech, expression and creativity, based on collaboration, as a balancing and constructive act.”
