IDFA Industry Talk: Short Cuts to the Future
Woensdag 19 november, 2014
Op maandag 24 november vindt er in de Brakke Grond – Rode Zaal een interessante Industry Talk plaats, onder leiding van DDG voorzitter Martijn Winkler.
With new platforms emerging and old media changing, new options for content creators are arising. Journalistic websites are focusing more of their efforts on developing video content, using short docs as their main form of expression. Never before have short docs had such an important role or so many viewers. Why is that? Various media outlets that have embraced the short doc will present their work, their strategies and their ideas on presenting short docs. Is their decision to choose this form driven by editorial decisions, or are they mainly using short docs to reach new audiences? And what are the benefits and challenges in creating online content for a filmmaker? On the one hand, these options bring new audiences, funding possibilities, partners and communities. But on the other hand you have to deal with a different culture regarding copyright, editorial control and the immediate feedback of the entire world. What is the ideal format for a short web doc? Are short docs the future?
